As the Philippines endured over eight months of lockdown to contain the spread of the COVID-19, economic recession, consequences of anxiety and stress, and sufferings of the vulnerable and marginalized families have been the predominant issues of the country. But amid these shared phenomenal challenges, the bayanihan spirit is still alive among Filipinos as they help those severely affected during these trying times.
Eight months after it was launched, ABS-CBN Foundation continues leading “Pantawid ng Pag-ibig,” a campaign to provide food and necessities to those who can't make a living due to the quarantine. To date, the campaign has supported more than 922,000 families from the National Capital Region (NCR) and selected provinces from all over the country. This was made possible because of the outpouring support from its donors and partners.
GCash, one of the long-time partners of ABS-CBN Foundation, has pledged to support the Pantawid ng Pag-ibig inititiative by offering its digital payment platform as a donation gateway for donors. The application provides the convenience of donating online using mobile phones.
“Pantawid ng Pag-ibig is very much aligned with our company's mission of serving the underserved, especially during these trying times. We also push for inclusivity so (it is very) much aligned with ABS-CBN Foundation’s (campaign) to help those in need without boundaries or prejudice, ultimately helping in nation-building.” Martha Sazon, GCash President and CEO shared.
The campaign continuously accepts donations from individuals and is now in its second phase, dubbed as “Isang Daan. Isang Pamilya.” At this point, the campaign aims to feed one family for every Php 100 donation. ABS-CBN Foundation accepts donations via the GCash app.
