Children’s Rights and Development

Nurture the future and support children’s rights and development

Started in 1997, Bantay Bata 163 caters to child protection and family development. Its flagship programs include Helpline 163 – the pioneer hotline to report child-related cases.

Bantay Bata 163 has extended its services to include interventions that cater to mental health and help schools and communities be safer spaces for children.

Our impact through the years

Filipino families and children served

years of commitment to child welfare

Individuals (children and parents) reached on the topic of child’s rights awareness

The Challenge

8 out of 10 Filipino children experience some form of violence in their lifetime. In addition, the Philippines currently ranks number one (1) in the world in online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC). Despite economic progress in recent years, Filipino youth continue to face deprivations and vulnerabilities that impede their overall development.

Our Response

We envision a child safe Philippines where children are free from abuse and where children’s mental health are valued. To respond to the problem, we’ve launched the following core projects:

Bantay Bata Helpline 163

Providing access to services and immediate help for children experiencing abuse and distress

Child Safe Schools and Communities

Project MIND

This endeavor helped us a lot in crafting a timely, intensified Child Protection Program based on the guidelines of the Department of Education which we aligned with our Project RESCUE. We were given the chance to be more equipped iwth the knowledge and understanding in handling abuses and threats in a precise and appropriate manner. All of your efforts will be guaranteed to be put to great use in the prevention of abuse and threats that compromise the safety of learners, parents and school personnel.
