Programa Genio Empowers Grade 12 Students in Iloilo to Overcome Barriers and Build a Brighter Future

Recognizing the financial challenges that prevent Grade 12 students from advancing beyond senior high school, Programa Genio, the education advocacy arm of the ABS-CBN Foundation, remains steadfast in its mission to empower students by enhancing their skills and helping them reach their full potential. Many students are forced to abandon their dreams due to the cost and difficulty of continuing their education. To address this pressing issue, Programa Genio provides crucial support by funding work immersion requirements, covering application and assessment fees for National Certification, and offering personal counseling to guide students who may feel lost. These efforts ensure students gain the necessary competencies to enhance their employability and global competitiveness.

With the generous support of the Gloria Dy Foundation, 50 academically performing Grade 12 students from Nicomedes R. Tubar Sr. National High School in San Dionisio, Iloilo, have received financial assistance to complete their work immersion requirements before graduation. These students, enrolled in STEM and TVL strands—such as ICT, Home Economics (Caregiving), and Agri-Fishery Arts (Food Processing)—are dedicated to advancing their livelihood and supporting their families through education.

The impact of this initiative is already evident. Students who once faced uncertainty about their future now have the resources and confidence to complete their senior high school education. Many have expressed their gratitude, highlighting how the financial aid has relieved their families’ burdens and allowed them to focus on their studies. The provision for National Certification assessment fees further ensures that they graduate with industry-recognized credentials, increasing their chances of securing stable employment or continuing to higher education.
