ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. (AFI) officially concludes its stewardship of the La Mesa Nature Reserve and La Mesa Ecopark and turns management over to the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) on 15 February 2024.
The handover aligns with the Integrated Watershed Management Roadmap for Angat, Ipo, and La Mesa (IWMRAIL) led by MWSS, which ensures the protection and preservation of the three watersheds.
In line with the transition, both the La Mesa Nature Reserve and the La Mesa Ecopark will temporarily close to the public starting 12 February 2024.
We recognize the challenges our employees at La Mesa may face due to the temporary closure. Rest assured that all affected staff will receive severance packages to support them.
AFI expresses our heartfelt gratitude to our employees, partners, donors, and supporters for their valuable contributions and support in restoring and sustaining the La Mesa Watershed for almost 25 years.
“The La Mesa Nature Reserve will be turned over to the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System – Corporate Office, or MWSS-CO, and its concessionaires. In addition, the La Mesa Ecopark, an ecotourism, recreational, and educational facility for the public, shall be turned over to MWSS-CO, in cooperation with the local government of Quezon City,” adds MWSS Administrator, Leonor C. Cleofas, CESO IV.
