JGC Philippines, Inc. (JPHIL), a construction company of the JGC Group of Companies based from Japan, decided to cancel their corporate Christmas party this year and instead donated their Php700,000 party budget to ABS-CBN Foundation. The donation will be used to aid the relief operations of Tulong-Tulong sa Pag-ahon, an initiative that is currently being implemented by ABS-CBN Foundation to help Filipinos who have been affected by the typhoons that hit the country this November.

Individuals from many parts of the Philippines were recently battered by typhoons Quinta, Rolly and Ulysses, causing massive floods, and families losing their properties, livelihood, and loved ones.

With the pandemic and calamities happening one after another, and the local government imposing social distancing protocols, the usual festive vibe of the holiday season has been dampened.

The management of JPHIL believed the funds would serve a greater purpose if they could out to reach more Filipinos in need especially during this holiday season.

The company has been looking for a reliable foundation to support and they chose ABS-CBN Foundation's humanitarian arm, Sagip Kapamilya.

“Our main consideration for selecting Sagip Kapamilya is that it has the logistics and resources to reach people who were badly hit by the recent calamities— even in remote locations and we believe in their advocacies.” said Lolita Faller, Vice President for Corporate Admin Division- JGC Philippines, Inc.

ABS-CBN Foundation’s Director for Program Operations, Jen Santos, thanked JPHIL for supporting Sagip Kapamilya’s mission in bringing hope to Filipinos despite the uncertainty brought about by the storms and pandemic.

“To us, as important as the amount is really the thought behind the donation. It goes to show the generosity of the Filipinos and of being a Kapamilya— that even though we don’t fully know them, we still find ways to help them in times of need,” said Santos.

JGC Philippines, Inc. has been operating in the Philippines for 31 years and is engaged in delivering an integrated service to clients from feasibility study to planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and facility maintenance.
