Liza Flores is an accomplished picture book writer, illustrator, and designer. As a member of Ang Ink (Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan), she is passionate about connecting children to the world. Her illustrations have earned her numerous awards, including the National Children’s Book Awards and the Best-Read and Filipino Reader’s Choice Awards. The book she created in collaboration with her fellow Ang INK artist, “Karapat Dapat,” has been recognized on the White Ravens list for 2020, a prestigious selection by the International Youth Library that showcases outstanding children’s books from around the globe.
Flores is an artist who captivates the world with her distinctive paper-cut art. She is enthusiastic about exploring the texture of paper to create rhythmic shapes and forms. Some of her notable artworks are “But That Won’t Wake Me Up,” “The Secret is in the Soil” and “Ang Maliit na Kalabaw”. Her layering approach to art conveys her belief that “every action, no matter how small, is crucial in driving positive transformation”.
As an exceptional artist, Liza Florez’s work extends beyond creativity and advocacy. She demonstrates that art can be a powerful tool for creating change and inspiring collective action. Through her featured artwork “This Way Please” on ABS-CBN Foundation’s E-cards Collection, she continues to passionately advocate for environmental protection, drawing inspiration from children and young people leading efforts to address the climate crisis.
