According to UNICEF, 95 children in the Philippines die every day because of malnutrition. This is one of the reasons why Alaska Milk Corporation supports the advocacy of ABS-CBN Foundation-Bantay Bata 163 in taking care of the welfare of the Filipino children. These two entities sealed a partnership to provide milk products to the kids at the Children’s Village, a halfway home that gives holistic healing for disadvantaged children.
Milk is a nutrient-rich fluid that is needed for children’s rapid and healthy growth. For the kids of Children’s Village whose age ranges from 2-17 years old, drinking a glass of milk is highly recommended.
Atty. Maria Angela Esquivel, Corporate Affairs Director of Alaska Milk Corporation, highlighted that one of the basic rights of a child is survival and it is something that should be given our full attention, “If you look at promoting children’s rights you also need to focus on the more basic one which is just to survive – the Survival Rights of the Child. It seems ironic when you work with children who are ultimately dying because this basic need of health and nutrition is not being addressed.”

Bantay Bata 163 and Alaska Milk Corporation share the same goal of promoting children’s rights and fighting for children’s lives in the Philippines. “We’re just happy and we feel very privileged to extend our life-long partnerships, our personal relationships to the next level of helping more children survive in this environment of hunger and malnutrition,” Atty. Esquivel added.
As an organization that empowers proper education and adequate nutrition to children for them to reach their goals, this act of kindness from Alaska plays a significant role in helping them make these dreams possible.
Ms. Susan Afan, Managing Director of ABS-CBN Foundation, expressed her gratitude to the unwavering support and generosity of Alaska Milk Corporation to the Filipino children. “We are very happy to be having this partnership with Alaska Corporation. They are really considering the children’s welfare. We are looking for a long-term partnership as well because many of the problems that we have including nutrition are more long-term. So it’s nice to partner with an organization that thinks long-term just like we do for the welfare of the Filipino children.”
