Denso Techno Philippines Inc., a company that creates programming embedded software for automotive components has turned over 272 pieces of used-lead acid batteries (ULABs) from their Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) to Bantay Kalikasan’s (BK) Bantay Baterya Project. This partnership aims to properly dispose harmful substances found in used lead-acid batteries.
“This activity is not only to properly dispose our hazardous wastes, but it also gives a significant impact to our environment especially that we have a lot of issues and concerns due to climate change and global warming,” said Mr. Koichi Kikuchi, Head of Corporate Division of Denso Techno Philippines, Inc.
In this collaboration, used lead-acid batteries will be delivered to and recycled by Oriental, an accredited Transporter and Treatment, Storage, Disposal (TSD) facility that will ensure the proper recycling, treatment, and disposal of used lead-acid batteries.
“We are looking forward to more sustainable projects and programs with the foundation in the future as we believe that we have a common goal in protecting and preserving this beautiful Earth,” Kikuchi added.
All equivalent monetary values from the recycled and recovered used lead-acid batteries will be donated and utilized to support the various environmental projects of Bantay Kalikasan.
Uninterruptible Power Supply is an electrical apparatus that provides emergency power to a load when the input power source or main power fails. Despite its convenience, UPS contains harmful substances that can damage the environment if not properly disposed. This partnership of Denso Techno Philippines Inc. and ABS-CBN Foundation-Bantay Kalikasan plays an important role in environmental protection and preservation.
