The children from 300 families in Barangays Aplaya and Sinalhan in Sta. Rosa, Laguna were very excited when the Bantay Bata 163 team recently visited their community for an outreach program.
“Masaya po na natuto kaming mga magulang at nakapag-enjoy yung mga bata. Bukod dun ay may biyaya rin silang dala para sa amin,” said Nanay Joan, one of the mother beneficiaries from the said Community Outreach Program (COP).
The social workers of Bantay Bata 163 taught the parents alternative ways of disciplining their children without resorting to physical violence. This is one of the proactive strategies of the program which advocate for positive disciplining to prevent child abuse. ?
Simultaneously, they also conducted fun-learning activities for children like? storytelling, art workshops, and games. These activities are purposively designed to teach children their rights and responsibilities, and how to protect themselves from any form of child abuse, including online sexual abuse, exploitation, and bullying.
Volunteer doctors from the Philippine Dental Association, Laguna Medical Society, and Sta. Rosa Medical Society also supported the COP by providing free medical and dental checkups.
Apart from all the fun and new learnings, the beneficiaries were also grateful for the family packs and toys they received from Bantay Bata ?163 donors.
You may contact Bantay Bata hotline 163 if you want to find out how they can also conduct a COP in your community or how your organization can partner with them.
