The ABS-CBN Foundation (AFI) and Calibr8 Systems, Inc. have been awarded the Sustainability Impact Award, the first-ever award presented by Aveva, at the prestigious Aveva World Annual Conference 2024 held at Le Palais de Congres in Paris. The award was presented to Angela L. Quiros, Strategist and Technical Consultant in Marine Biodiversity of the ABS-CBN Foundation and Aby Lim, Chief Operating Officer of the Calibr8 Systems, Inc.
AFI and Calibr8 Systems, Inc. were awarded for their collaborative efforts to utilize technology in advancing sustainability initiatives, specifically in their work to protect the Verde Island Passage (VIP), the center of the center for marine shore fish biodiversity in the world. The Aveva Sustainability Impact Award recognizes their significant contributions to conserving the coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrass, key elements of the ocean’s biodiversity around the VIP, through AFI’s citizen science program.
The collaboration stood out among 90 global submissions, earning them a place as one of the four finalists invited to the award ceremony in Paris.
“The recognition from Aveva provides a new platform for AFI to further our advocacies for ocean conservation,” said Angela L. Quiros. “This award offers AFI the opportunity to raise global awareness of our efforts in the Verde Island Passage and expand the reach of our programs to protect marine biodiversity.”
As the winner of this prestigious award, AFI is positioned to collaborate with global technology and industrial leaders in sectors such as energy, oil and gas, and manufacturing which could provide critical support for AFI’s conservation programs and inspire the replication of the VIP conservation model worldwide.
