In December 2023, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur weathered a 7.4-magnitude earthquake, causing significant damage to the community. To assist those affected, ABS-CBN Foundation Sagip Kapamilya, in partnership with Sun Life Financial-Philippines Foundation, Inc., took immediate action to provide aid and support.
Through their generous assistance, 750 families across Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur were served with relief packs containing rice and canned goods. The relief pack was able to reach evacuation centers with 450 families in Bitoon Elementary School and 300 families in the MDRRMC Operation Center.
For years, Sun Life Foundation has partnered with the ABS-CBN Foundation to consistently improve Filipino lives. Beyond immediate support, Sun Life plays a crucial role in community-based ecotourism, benefiting both life and livelihood. It is our hope that this partnership becomes a beacon of hope and encouragement for others who may wish to extend support to more Kapamilyas.
