1000 McDonald’s Chicken Fillet meals for children

The ABS-CBN Foundation (AFI), together with the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RHMC) Philippines and McDonald’s Philippines, teamed up to provide for people affected by the recent 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Brgy. Lagawa, Brgy. Banao, and Brgy. Guinzadan Norte in the Mt. Province.

With the help of the local government unit (LGU) of Bauko and the Philippine Army, 1,000 chicken fillet meals were distributed to children. While an additional 40 cases or 1,200 drinking water bottles were distributed in Brgy. Maoay and Brgy. Sappac in Abra through the same initiative.

Amidst fear and uncertainty felt by the survivors due to the recent earthquake, children from the affected communities were all smiling upon receiving their McDo meal. However, since the fast food chain’s nearest location is far from these barangays, some children decided to save their meals so they could share them back home with their families.

More than 21,000 people were affected and five were killed in the earthquake. Four hundred homes, dozens of schools, several hospitals and bridges, and famous tourist landmarks such as the centuries-old Vigan Cathedral and Bantay Bell Tower were among the infrastructures damaged by this disaster.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities, the global CSR arm of McDonald’s, shares similar advocacies as ABS-CBN Foundation in promoting children’s rights and development. Through this partnership, these organizations remain committed in championing children’s welfare and providing aid in times of calamities.
