ABS-CBN Foundation (AFI) and Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) teamed up for the environment by committing to proper waste treatment and disposal of used engine oil. With a common goal for sustainability and environmental conservation, this partnership is significant to promote safe waste disposal from a premier automotive brand.

Held last August 29, 2024 at the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation manufacturing plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, the MOA signing was attended by the high-ranking officials of both organizations. Following the parties’ first agreement for the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Collection Project last November 2023, both parties signed a Memorandum of Agreement that marks another milestone.

“This initiative resonates with our commitment to sustainability and with our tagline “Life Made Better”. At MMPC, we continually strive to minimize our environmental impact, so we take this commitment further by donating our generators’ waste –specifically our used oil and solvents to be recycled by Genetron. Instead of the usual disposal process these materials will now contribute to something greater. We look forward to the positive outcome that this project will generate for our environment and society.” President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation, Ritsu Imaeda said.

Jocelyn T. Panen, Genetron International Marketing Technical Sales Director; Tomoyasu Moriya, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Executive Vice-President for Corporate;Marfel Ancheta, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines VP for Manufacturing.

“The purpose of both our organizations may be worded differently but they similarly focus on service to others and protecting the environment,” Lopez-Feliciano said as she highlighted the shared goal of both organizations. “Thank you for the gesture of “Kapwa” that makes you a part of our helping others and protecting the environment.” she added as she expressed her gratitude to MMPC.

Bantay Langis, an initiative from the ABS-CBN Foundation that started in 2007, focuses on curbing environmental and public health hazards by facilitating the treatment and recycling of used industrial and engine oil. Through this project, any recoverable values will be then remitted to the AFI and that will in turn support Bantay Kalikasan’s projects. Likewise, AFI’s transport and recycler partner, Genetron International Marketing, has supported the Bantay Langis project since 2008, while the Bantay Baterya & Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment projects since 2007.

Collaborative efforts such as this demonstrate that organizations from different industries can work together for a common goal, especially if that will affect not just a few but an entire nation. The ABS-CBN Foundation and Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation’s endeavor proves that everyone can contribute to a more sustainable future.
