Benilde Senior High School’s Grade 12 Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) strand experienced Karanasan sa Pamayanan. Through the ABS-CBN Foundation Galing Pamayanan, together with the Tumana Eco-Warriors Organization (TEWO), they taught them that simple acts of kindness can have lasting effects that go far beyond a single day.

Karanasan sa Pamayanan connects people with partner communities for immersion, supporting local efforts that build sustainable livelihoods and environmental stewardship.

Together with TEWO members, the students spent a day stitching DIY Care Dolls. Each handmade doll was created to bring comfort and encouragement. These dolls also send the message that children with cancer, and other children in need, are seen, loved, and never alone.

Although the students may never meet the children who will receive the dolls, they still find a way to reach them. Alongside each doll, they wrote earnest messages of encouragement. They hoped their words would remind every child that someone is thinking of them, believing in them, and cheering them on.

This activity also supports TEWO’s community-based livelihood, helping the organization continue its environmentally conscious initiatives. Through conversations and the doll-making workshop, students discovered how sustainability creates opportunities for communities while caring for the environment. They also listened to TEWO’s stories about resilience, gaining a deeper appreciation for the people behind every handcrafted product.

The experience brought business ethics, sustainability, and social entrepreneurship lessons to life, showing students that learning matters most when shared.

Karanasan sa Pamayanan highlights how bayanihan comes alive through shared, compassionate action. By connecting with partner communities like TEWO and bringing comfort to children in need, the program shows that real change can start with small, heartfelt acts. This experience underlines a simple truth: every caring gesture multiplies hope and connection, inspiring others and strengthening communities.

The ABS-CBN Foundation thanks De La Salle College of Saint Benilde Senior High School for including Karanasan sa Pamayanan in its students’ learning journey. Collaborations like this enable more young people to discover the importance of service and compassion in real-world settings, reinforcing that learning, empathy, and bayanihan extend beyond the classroom.
