Waw, sumakses ang ating peer supporters! 🏆
In celebration of National Children’s Month last November, the ABS-CBN Foundation Bantay Bata 163 Children and Youth Advocacy Council led the Peer Support Training 2025. This was their big project this year for children and by children. 🫶
100 junior high and senior high learners, guidance counselors, and guidance designates from 10 DepEd Surigao City schools came together for this event.
🎯 BB163 Senior Program Officer Ailene Alea-Blanco presented the fundamentals of peer support, the characteristics of an ideal helper, confidentiality, and referral. The sessions also included the importance of group debriefing and creating a self-care plan.
🎯 The CYAC led the discussion on setting healthy boundaries, which are essential for peer supporters.
🎯 BB163 Program Head Levi Ambon-Rota shared about setting up school-based chat helplines through their peer support groups.
🎯 Part of the participants’ outputs were simulations of active listening and asking questions, applying these in a demonstration activity, and developing an operations manual and plan of activities.
Many thanks to our participating schools, donors, and partners who were part of our Peer Support Training!
