The ABS-CBN Foundation Bantay Bata 163 team, together with 74 learners, guidance designates, and school heads from five public secondary schools, gathered to conduct our Peer Support Training at Domingo Yu Chu National High School in Pola, Oriental Mindoro.

š” Day 1 & 2: Led by our resource speakers, BB163 Senior Program Officer Ailene Alea-Blanco and PMIND Program Officer Rhiza Via Mateo, the sessions focused on the foundations of peer support, including its principles, roles, and ethical responsibilities.
ā BB163 Children & Youth Advocacy Council member Mhena Rumpone also discussed healthy boundaries and facilitated ice breakers to make the sessions more engaging.
šÆ Practical exercises, simulations, and participant-led demonstrations were also conducted to help participants apply their newly learned skills in different scenarios.
š Day 3: The highlight of the final day was the development of procedures for their school-based helplines, along with the presentation of their initial Operational Guidelines and Plans of Activities for their peer support groups.
š After the training, our partner Phlourish also oriented the participants on their guided self-help mental health toolkit.
These initiatives are a big step in empowering our peers to provide mental health support and in creating safe spaces for learners in their schools.
This was made possible with the support of the Department of Education Schools Division Office of Oriental Mindoro, the Department of Education Pola District, and Phlourish! š
